Rains Retreat Dana

For three months of each year Buddhist monasteries go into retreat (this year - from 8 July until 4 October).  We would like to invite our supporters to stay in touch by contributing food-Dana during this period.  Cooked food is preferred but raw food is also greatly appreciated.  Receiving cooked food during Vassa means less time in the kitchen cooking and more time on the cushion meditating.

We've come up with a number of options to suit the time-rich, time-poor, and everything in between.  Click here for more.

Fundraising

Pali geeks rejoice

Santi, in line with its mendicant philosophy, has gone over to Ubuntu, a version of the freeware open source Linux platform, for its main computer operating systems. But we had to find an easy way for Ubuntu to input the necessary special characters (diacriticals) for Pali and Sanskrit. And, thanks to Anagarika Galia, here it is! We believe this is the world's first dedicated Pāli/Sanskrit layout for Ubuntu.

Santi and the environment

Since the monastery is mainly natural bush bordering on the National Park, the Sangha is determined that any development should be harmonious and impact minimally on the environment. This is how we try to do it.
